DIPLOMA IN TEACHING ENGLISH AS SECOND LANGUAGE
PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION
The Diploma in Teaching English as Second Language program of Lincoln University College, Malaysia (LUC) encourages students to reflect on and interpret the relation between theory and practice, to adapt new ideas and strategies to their own contexts, and to test and appraise new teaching techniques in their own classrooms. Students will be trained to solve problems logically and analytically and to think critically for every decision they make so that their decisions lead to making a positive difference in whatever profession they choose after diploma in TESL. The program provides the most current knowledge and emphasizes the skills needed for success in teaching and to pursue an advanced degree.
PROGRAMME AIM
The program aims to help practicing teachers, or those wishing to become teachers, address in an informed and principled way the issues and professional needs that relate to their own working environment. The type of training is thus developed to encourage the learner’s autonomy without losing sight of elements of constant but flexible interaction, tailored to the specific needs of teachers in professional development. The program also aims to make the students apply principles of second language teaching in planning, executing, and evaluating class lessons.
DURATION
Minimum Duration : 30 Months.
Graduates will find a good variety of career opportunities in both public and private sectors where the demand for skilled English staff continues to rise

Entry Requirements:
- To obtain a Certificate in Education of Malaysia (SPM) with at least 3 honors; or
- Obtain a Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least a Grade B in 3 subjects; or
- Passing O-Level with at least credit in three subjects; or
- Passed SKM Level 3 (Level 3, MOH) in a related field; and
- Passed SPM with at least a credit in one subject; and
- Through consolidation program (in case necessary); or
- Graduated Community College Certificate (Level 3, KKM) equivalent in a related field; and
- Passed SPM with at least a credit in one subject; and
- Through consolidation program (in case necessary); or
- Pass Certificate (Level 3, MOH) in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00; or
- . Pass a Malaysian High School Certificate (STPM) or equivalent with at least a Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in 1 subject, or
- Pass the Malaysian Higher Education Certificate (STPM) with at least a Maqbool Grade; or
- Any other qualifications that are recognized by the Malaysian Government.
